Our History

Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase established Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Nigeria in 1925. Mt. Sinai Cherubim & Seraphim Church arose from Cherubim and Seraphim Church. The spiritual Leader is Apostle (Dr.) Peter Lekan Akintayo, while Samuel Oyewole and Niyi Ero-Philips are the pioneers of Mt. Sinai Cherubim & Seraphim Church, MN, USA.

Mt. Sinai Cherubim & Seraphim Church, MN, USA is the first white garment Church in Minnesota, though there are other Cherubim and Seraphim Churches in cities across the US, Canada, and parts of the world such as Asia and Europe. Other white garment Churches have either directly or indirectly been established in Minnesota through our existence.

In 1989, we started as friends that gathered together for monthly bible studies in the basement of Samuel Oyewole, who later became the Pastor because of his spiritual background, education, and knowledge of Cherubim and Seraphim As more people knew about our gathering, they came and we extended the meeting to weekly bible studies and monthly night vigil. We all attended our individual Churches on Sundays. As members interest increased, prayers became answered, and opportunities sought opened, members decided that we should have Sunday Service once a month. After a few weeks, there was a consensus to make the Church everyone's new primary place of worship; subsequently registering the church in 1992.

As 1995 approached, numbers continued to grow, and Mt. Sinai Cherubim & Seraphim Church left the Oyewole's basement to rent a hall in St. Paul on University Avenue. The hall was not conducive to our doctrine, because of its use for parties on weekend and weekdays.

Later in 1996, there were separations within the Church that divided members, nearly and bringing about its end. Fortunately, an elderly mother Madam Gladys Soyomokun appealed to all of us to come together as a body of Christ and quell any existing adversities. We obliged and continued fostering growth and unity to members throughout the Church. Former members that did not return formed the Holy Church of Cherubim and Seraphim Mt. Sinai. The first Celestial Church of Christ in Minnesota was established by Evangelist Adeolu who used to worship with us for some years.

To God be the glory, we approached Pastor Saari of Central Baptist Church in St. Paul, who leased us a place to worship within that Church's basement in 1997. We were in Central Baptist Church building until we purchased our current building in 2004 located at 952 White Bear Avenue North, St. Paul, MN.
